The East Anglia Fens are my home. Although i’m only 10 minutes drive from the City of Peterborough, i’m less than a 5 minute drive out into the Fens. The fens are the very flat part of East Anglia allowing you to see for miles on a bright day.

From the top of Peterborough Cathedral you can see as far as Ely Cathedral, as there are no tall obstacles (natural or man made) out in the Fens, apart from the numerous Wind Turbines.

The flatness does have it’s downside, with nothing to stop the winds in the autumn and winter, and the odd storm when the we see muddy rain as the dust from the fens fields gets picked up by the rainclouds.

In the Summer the cloud formations coming over the fens, paired with the bleakness of the flat fields, make for some great photo opportunities.
