Llangynidr Moors

Located between Beaufort and Crickhowell, the Moors hold some special memories. They overlook the valley with views out over the Brecon Beacons towards Langorse lake. As children on our holidays, we would sit on the moors watching the RAF jets flying below us, following the path of the river.

As the moors are used by the Army to train, we would often find bullet shellcases, which we’d collect from the soldiers sleeping holes.

We also built “The Country Seat”. A seat made from the stone found on the moors, overlooking the valley. If you didn’t know about it, you would probably never stumble across the Country Seat, but even today, some 35+ years since we built it I can find it everytime I visit.

We were trainee mountain goats, following the paths made by the wild sheep and ponies, but most of all, we weer busy building memories that last a lifetime.
