When you mention Belfast Street Art, most people think about the political murals that adorned the buildings around the Falls Road and the Shankhill Road. Nowadays, whilst these are being removed or made less political, there is another part of the city that it full of large pieces of art.
The Cathedral District has large pieces of Street Art, as well as large pieces of Graffiti. If you are unsure of the difference between Graffiti and Street Art, Graffiti is the type of artwork born out of the 1980’s Hip Hop scene. Street Art is multi-medium, incorporating stenciling, posters, sticker art, as well as large scale pieces that the public would call “Art”.
